CEILING COLLAPSES AT STORE STREET VENUE
A new HQ had to be found very quickly in January when the Band arrived for their practice and found the ceiling had fallen down making their venue unsafe. A quick thinking Parent contacted Taunton Sunday School which is only a few minutes away from the venue and luckily it was free on Tuesdays. It is a big improvement for the Band as we have a large hall with stage, kitchen and smaller practice room
PANCAKE TREAT FOR MEMBERS
The Band are settling in well at their new venue and after a long session spent working on the UK test piece enjoyed a Pancake supper provided by Jane our treasurer
NAO UK CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009

HAVE YOU HEARD
There is to be an accordion get together for all interested at the HQ of the Tameside Junior Accordion Band. It will take place on the last Tuesday of each month and for the first time will give adults the opportunity of listening or playing. A mixed ability band will be formed with parts to suit all ability levels. Contact Betty for music.
Danny Cameron ex Member has toured the world three times playing music. He joined the Band when he was 13 and by 17 was playing for a well known local group "Tap the Barrel" He later played with "Spirit of Ireland" and his story will be featured at a later date.
Collette Ainscow LBCA has just received her Post Graduate Certificate of Education (Secondary) with Music (or for short a PGCE music).....Collette joined the band at 12, studied solo accordion becoming the first in the North West to gain her Licentate of the British College of Accordions, and she sends these words of encouragement to all young musicians
"It's a lot of hard work but if you keep going you will get there in the end. There are many people who are there to support you and encourage you along the way. I spent many late nights working on assignments and preparing for exams but looking back now I'm glad I did. The best thing about studying music is...if work gets too much you can relax by practising your accordion or playing piano or listening to your favourite music, then getting back to hard work!"
